About the contest

This contest is organized by the Assocation for Solidarity with the Palestinian People (Turkey) and HOMUR Humor and Cartoon Group.

Conditions of participation

 

1. The works must reach the organizer association not later than 22nd of November 2010, Monday. The participants using the way of postal, should arrange the last day of sending as 22nd November of 2010, Monday. All of the works which will arrive before the gathering of the Selective Committee will be evaluated. But the organizer association will not be responsible for any possible delay in mail delivery.

2. Works to be submitted must be original. When a print out version of the cartoon is submitted, the cartoonists has to sign that version.

3.The standard sizes of the works are A4 (21x29,7 cm) or A3 (29,7 x42 cm). The works to be sent via internet must be high resolution files (300dpi required).

4. The cartoonists are free to participate with already published works as long as these works have not previously been awarded in any other contest. The maximum number of works for each cartoonist to participate in the contest is 3.

5. The Contest is open to cartoonists from all countries of the world. Two cartoonists between 10-13 and 14-17 years old will be awarded two "Handala ‘Stone General’ Special Prizes"

6. The adress of the Assocation for Solidarity with the Palestinian People for the cartoonists who prefer to participate via mail is: Filistin Halkıyla Dayanışma Derneği, Hüseyin Ağa Mah. 7. The organizers will not be responsible for damage caused during transportation via mail. Name, surname, birth date, mail adress, phone number and e-mail adress should be attached to cartoons.

8. Participants should send their works with participation forms, which can be found in annex, after filling it completely and signing it. The participants who send their works via internet must also send their signed participation form to the adress given above.

9. Participants who filled the participation form will be assumed to have transfered all the rights on their cartoons, as defined by Turkish law, to the Association for Solidarity with Palestinian People and that the mentioned association has the right to exhibit, keep them in its archive and broadcast them on the internet. Similarly, HOMUR Humor and Cartoon Group will be allowed to use all the works (for non-profit aims) without any restrictions.

Prizes

17. At the end of the contest, a BIG NAJI AL ALI CARTOON PRIZE will be given to the author of one of the works..

In addition, there will be four ACHIEVEMENT PRIZES equal to each other. These are:

• -HANDALA LAND PRIZE
• -HANDALA FREEDOM PRIZE
• -HANDALA HUMAN RIGHTS PRIZE
• -HANDALA INTIFADA PRIZE

Also, two of the cartoonists between 10-13 and 14-17 years old will be awarded with "Handala ‘Stone General’ Prizes".

In addition to the special prizes given by the Association for Solidarity with Palestinian People and HOMUR Humor and Cartoon Group, there will also be awards from some different institutions.

Seçici kurul ve sonuçların duyurulması

• Seçici kurul daha sonra ilan edilecektir.
• Seçici kurul 27 Kasım 2010 Cumartesi günü toplanacaktır.
• Yarışma sonuçları 28 Kasım 2010 Pazar günü açıklanacaktır.
• Ödül töreni 11 Aralık 2010 Cumartesi günü İstanbul’da yapılacaktır. Tören herkese açık olup, büyük ödül, başarı ödülleri ve Hanzala Taş General ödüllerini kazananlar üç günlük konaklama Filistin Halkıyla Dayanışma Derneği’ne (FHDD) ait olmak üzere törene katılabilirler.

Yarışma sonrası

• Yarışmaya katılan eserler arasından jürinin seçeceği karikatürlerin yer aldığı bir albüm hazırlanacak ve çalışmada eseri bulunanlara gönderilecektir. Ayrıca yarışmaya katılan eserlerden oluşan gezici bir sergi düzenlenip İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Eskişehir, Adana, Zonguldak ve Antakya başta olmak üzere Ortadoğu ve dünyanın bazı şehir ve merkezlerinde de sergilenecektir. Yarışmaya katılan karikatürcülerle yarışma sonrasında da bilgi alışverişi devam edecek, yapılacak sergilerden karikatürcüler haberdar edilecektir.
• Yarışmaya gönderilen karikatürler iade edilmeyecek, kitaplaştırılıp sergilendikten sonra Karikatürcüler Derneği’nin sorumluluğu altında Karikatür ve Mizah Müzesi’nde korunacaktır.
• Karikatürcülerin Türkiye’deki tek meslek örgütü Karikatürcüler Derneği de yarışmayı desteklemektedir.
